The name Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is derived from the French verb gicler meaning 'to squirt'. A Giclée print is a high-resolution, archival quality digital print produced by the ink-jet process and is a recognized fine art printmaking method just like lithographs and serigraphs.
The first and most critical step in producing a giclée is creating a high resolution, digitized copy of the original artwork. Our studio is capable of producing direct scans up to 8200 dpi or image capture by our large format digital studio camera. Mated with specialized optics and a HID lighting system to minimize glare and reflection, we capture every nuance of detail from even the largest of originals. These techniques and equipment and employed by virtually every fine art museum worldwide. From this one digital file, we can produce a variety of size and material options, such as note cards, posters, open-edition prints, postcards, business cards, etc.

Once the image is in digital format, we “fine tune” as needed to color correct and ensure the best possible match. Proofing is strongly recommended to make sure all color and detail expectations are met. This step provides the best possible communication between artist and “atelier” and virtually eliminates unforeseen variations. In most cases one proof and a subsequent color correction are sufficient but there is no limit to the number of proofs necessary to satisfy the artist. (Don't be fooled by printers who tell you proofing is unnecessary).
In the giclée printing process, a fine stream of pigmented inks (more than four million droplets per second) is sprayed onto specially treated fine art papers, canvas or fabrics up to 60 inches in width. Meticulous calibration procedures provide stunningly consistent results even when limited edition prints are created weeks or months apart. Unlike any other printing method, giclées may be ordered as needed, allowing artists to self-publish without incurring huge upfront overhead or inventory costs.
We adhere to all copyright laws to protect the property of our artists. All client files are archived in our system and off-site for future orders and for safekeeping. We also include a CD or DVD containing a print-ready copy plus smaller versions for web, email, etc. Ordering reprints is as easy as making a phone call or sending an email.
Both canvas and paper giclées can be treated with protective coatings to add to their durability and light fastness. We can embellish and texturize canvas prints with acrylic medium or “deckle” paper print edges for added effect. We offer complete and competitively priced framing services, computerized mat cutting, laminating, canvas stretching, and direct shipping.

All work is done to your satisfaction and is fully guaranteed.
